The Immersive Experience 500+ Hours

Our Immersive Course is a full-time experience designed for students looking to start a career in programming. Immersive students learn both front-end and back-end technologies and work in groups under the supervision of experienced mentors to create fully-functional real-world applications.

Students who join the immersive course will code Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Apart from this rigorous schedule students also participate in two 24 hour events, called hackathons. These events are project-focused and designed to push your skills to the next level.

By the end of our Immersive Course, students will be ready to enter the workforce with an impressive portfolio of varied projects and a strong sense of how to contribute to a team of professional developers.

When attempting to learn any craft fast; it is crucially important to narrow your scope and focus on key skills. At CodeWorks our team of skilled professionals will help keep you on track by teaching the concepts required for employment. Many schools have students Exam Cram a topic just long enough to pass a test before moving on from that topic. This form of unfocused education is extremely ineffective since most people will forget the majority of the content resulting in a severe lack of skill.

There is no better way to learn the demands of a career as a developer than by immersing yourself in the day to day activity of a developer. In this course, you will focus on building practical applications and be tasked with requirements suited to your skill. Learn and study in team environments that simulate the current industry standards. Student teams are guided by an industry professional instructor who knows and understands the needs of the profession. Each team lead has their own local connections and will help teams meet their project requirements through feedback, personalized code reviews.

Throughout the course you will spend time refining your resume, building your online portfolio, and connecting with potential employers. Our team of recruiters, hiring managers, and developers provide 1 on 1 feedback to ensure you have the confidence and knowledge necessary to talk shop at local meetups and excel during technical interviews when applying for jobs. Top performers from each class are eligible to join our Registered Apprenticeship Program.

Daily Outline

Your time spent at CodeWorks is structured to ensure an ideal learning environment. Students should know prior to enrolling that our courses are intense, and highly effective. Our goal is to provide you marketable skills so we fill every minute of the day while you are here. Most days will follow this routine.

Morning WARM-UP

Start your day off with a fun brain teaser designed to expand your critical thinking and solving skills. As you conquer each morning challenge you'll be prepared to ace your upcoming interview.

Live Coding

This is the portion of the day we take to introduce new topics and concepts. All of our instruction is delivered through live coding projects where you and the instructor set and fulfill application requirements

Guided Practice

Before breaking for lunch we take the time to reinforce the principles learned during our live coding session with a small student lead practice session.

Lunch

Spend your lunch break eating and playing a board games with your peers and the CodeWorks staff. Or perhaps go for an urban walk to one of the many local restaurants nearby. One way or another it is important to step away from your laptop and give your brain a rest.

Lab

Spend your afternoon building up your portfolio. Lean on the experience of your instructors, don't spend days on problems that our instructors can get you passed in minutes. Learn to build applications that will impress employers and make your resume stand out from the rest of the crowd.

Daily Recap

We believe students should never go home feeling discouraged or overwhelmed! Before the end of each day we take the final hour to review the main topics learned that day and ensure you leave with all of your questions answered.

Coding FireSIDE (optional)

Spend some after hours time with your classmates to relax over a board game or a few friendly rounds of video games. These sessions help foster relationships that become invaluable friendships. Of course most of the conversation is usually about coding.

Community Connections

At CodeWorks we host local meetups for startups, tech companies and investors. Meetups offer an ideal environment to network and make valuable connections where as a student you will be in close proximity to local talent managers who are eagerly looking for their next team member.

Agile Methodology

Agile, "The Gold Standard", is a term used to describe an approach to project management. Knowing how to work as an Agile team member, is as important to employers as your coding skill. Our curriculumn is developed specifically to incorporate this Process into your standard workday.

Certifications

Students that successfully complete the course and pass their exit interview receive a Certificate of Completion. Students also maintain their Alumni Card to showcase your accomplishments, certificates, and links to projects, as well as letters of recommendation.

What is the class focus?

Your employability is our success so everything we teach and focus on is geared towards teaching the skills necessary to work in the industry.

What help is available?

We know learning to code can be challenging. At CodeWorks we keep our student to teacher ratio right around 6:1. We also have private 1 on 1 tutor sessions available at no extra cost.

What if I have more questions?

We are educators! We love questions! Shoot us an email or give us a call. We may not have every answer but we will work with you to solve anything we can. The only bad questions are those not asked.
